There are times, believe it or not, that even I crave a bit of warm, tropical sunshine. Although winter has yet to arrive here in Seattle, and I am admittedly very excited for (I hope) an epic backcountry ski season, I can’t help but stop and take a moment to revel in the past, especially when the past included a week on the island of Kauai back in the spring.

This group of photographs represents only a small sample of what I actually shot. I hope to do a bit more organizing here in the near future.

Words can’t describe, and pictures can’t capture, the magnificence and raw beauty of the Nepali coast on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai…especially from the air.

From a photographers point of view, shooting this breath-taking coastline from the front seat of a helicopter can actually be quite frustrating. Even in the early morning, the glare looking through the windows is just about inescapable. But I tried…
