Every now and then I find myself back at Art Wolfe’s photography gallery here in Seattle assisting with various tasks. If I’m ever feeling a little lost, out of touch, or uninspired, walking through the doors of Art’s gallery quickly improves my state of mind. Within seconds I’m lost in a seas of stunning photographs. Tomorrow I continue work alongside Keron Psillas (who runs the Digital Photography Center at the gallery) as we embark on some photo editing tutorials with a group of 11 & 12 year olds. This should be interesting…to say the least.
That being said, we were both pleasantly surprised by how quickly these kids grasped much of the what photography is about, as we first ran through a slide show discussing back light, gesture, the golden mean. We followed this with a quick field trip to the Seattle arboretum where the kids were set loose with disposable cameras. Tomorrow we see just what came of this little experiment…
