Over the past couple years I’ve struggled with how much, what kind, and just where to apply my efforts in the wide world of photography. I see a lot of amateur photographers who take some amazing photos and want to share them with everyone but have a hard time justifying committing the (massive) amount of time it requires to market themselves. I personally have worked on half a dozen photography websites for displaying images, researched many of the stock photo websites, talked, asked questions, read books and flipped through a lot web pages dedicated to photography in search of some advice that would point me in the right direction and help me spread the word about the work I do. Finally, after all this, I’m happy to say that Mackie Images and Photoshelter will be hanging out quite a bit in the future.
Photoshelter is a website that offers photographers the ability to not only display their images via some pretty slick photo galleries but to also sell them via numerous channels (stock, commercial, royalty-free, rights-managed, etc).
We are still in the romantic stage so there’s lots to do to get to know each other. But for now, you can view some of my photographs at http://pa.photoshelter.com/usr-show/U0000C9yL1pmY8e8 while I work on nurturing what I hope will be a happy and long lasting relationship. Stay tuned as I predict many visual changes in the world of Mackie Images.
